Thursday, June 30, 2011, NABET-CWA represented members at Howard University’s Public TV station WHUT have voted to approve a new contract by 8 in favor, 0 opposed, and one not voting. The new agreement will begin immediately on Friday, July 1, and will expire June 30, 2012.
“This new contract is an important achievement for our members, Howard University and WHUT-TV,” said Local 31 President Carl Mayers. “We were able to retain important protections for due process and jurisdiction.”
“The agreement includes significant changes, and I realize that some union activists are apprehensive,” Mayers added. “This is a cooperative agreement with the university and station management. With continuous help from the national union and this local, I am confident that we can work together and secure the jobs of NABET-CWA represented members at WHUT.”
