  The CAO and House Recording Studio Extend Labor Agreement

Ratified Collective Bargaining Agreement 2009-2013 (Word2007 format)(04/20/09)

April 14, 2009 | CAO Dan Beard signs the new Agreement between the NABET- CWA - AFL-CIO (National Association of Broadcast Employees and Technicians - Communications Workers of America, American Federation of Labor - Congress of Industrial Organizations) and the House Recording Studio.


HRS Members voted overwhelmingly to accept the employer's latest proposed contract.

Members of the NATIONAL ASSOCIATION OF BROADCAST EMPLOYEES AND TECHNICIANS - COMMUNICATIONS WORKERS OF AMERICA, AFL-CIO, Local 52031 today ratified a new collective bargaining agreement at the US House of Representatives Recording Studio.

The vote, conducted by in person voting, was 19 to accept and 1 to reject. 31 people were eligible to vote in today's election. They have chosen to join together for improved job security, benefits and a voice at work and become members of the union in the open shop workplace.

The new contract will be effective from April 1, 2009 through April 1, 2013.

Highlights include: improved payment of 60 minutes of administrative leave if the 30 minute meal period is not received; minimum call of 4 hours on Holidays, provision for emergency parking in the event of late work extending past the normal shutdown of public transportation (with deduction of metro benefits from the following month's benefit), in the event of weather emergency Hotel accommodations can be provided to ensure crew availability for early start.

The Union was represented by Steve Johnson and Todd Redlin of the bargaining unit, and NABET-CWA Staff Representative Carrie Biggs-Adams. Employer was represented by Tim Blodgett, Tom Coyne, and Pat Hirsch.
